Abstract

Tourism is an important sector for a country. This tourist sector will indirectly increase its ability to overseas. This is evident when this sector is one of the state's directions in achieving tourism development goals. Travel products such as natural beauty, resources or historical material, man-made elements as well as accommodation facilities in the study area are important factors in which they play a role in achieving tourism development goals. In line with that, the tourism area was introduced based on the inherent features that can be highlighted through more comprehensive planning and development. Pangkor Island is known as a tourist attraction because it is rich in resources, especially natural resources that enable it to be developed as a viable tourism area based on its potential. Based on the principle that tourism is able to generate and boost the economy, especially in areas with aesthetic value, Pangkor Island is able to attract more tourists from time to time. Pangkor Island is an area that has its own distinctive attraction which is only found in certain areas and its uniqueness has brought tourists to this island over half a century ago. There are three main factors that have been formulated to bring tourists to a place. The first factor is through attraction elements and it includes elements and features that are the travel products. The next factor is the identity factor of the area (trademark) which can bring travellers because of the existing identity and creation. The third factor is the activity that takes place somewhere. Planned and ongoing activities can create a focal point for tourists as it will function fully with the presence of tourists.
