Abstract

In recent years, researchers have viewed commercial aluminium alloys for potential increasing the overall performance of materials.Commercial aluminium alloys has recently received wider attention in the automotive industry, which are used in high performance application of automotive engine components such as turbo compressor housing, oil pump, cylinder head and others.Cooling curve thermal analysis (CCTA) is the most popular thermal analysis technique in solidification field and this technique is easy to use and low cost compared with other techniques.Previously, researchers have viewed thermal analysis as potential analysis technique to obtain cooling curve of certain aluminium alloys. However,to analyze the general cooling curve of an alloys need an integration between the cooling curve and microstructure in order to obtain the best result of casting quality. This practice leads applying thermal analysis prediction on solidification process include nucleation, minimum and growth state. The new thermal analysis on the different thin wall on a metal mould is required. Therefore, the thermal analysis of thin wall for the commercial aluminium alloys to predict the material behavior between alloys and metal mould must be further studied. The experiment of cooling curve thermal analysis will be conducted in order to validate the casting quality model. A mapping of a solidification curve for commercial aluminium alloy will be introduced to the diecasting industry for reference in order to improve the quality of casting product.
