Abstract

Wireless communication sector in Malaysia has experienced an enormous growth in the number of users over the past decade. The increasing number were observed from 2002 where the rate of 36.9% penetration per 100 residents or almost 9.05 million subscriptions in total. By 2012, the penetration rate per 110 occupants increased tremendously of 142.5% with approximately 41.33 million subscribers [9]. Following this growth, wireless service providers cannot solely rely on conventional streams to maintain their operations in the future (Kuo & YEN, 2009). This project proposed the design and development of dual-band antenna for WLAN application and the main objective is to design and develop antenna that possess the dual-band characteristics with improved antenna directivity, using the microstrip patch technique. The development of this project involves the scope of designing and testing of antenna through the use of CST Software and ANA equipment. In the process of designing, fundamental parameters of antenna are being measured and validated, in purpose to identify the antenna performance. As for the last, the analysis of findings are to be analyzed and discussed where any additional improvements can be added also in purpose of better performance.
