Abstract

Solar photovoltaic (PV) has great potential as a source of electricity generation. The increase in the economic sector can be improved if energy consumption is used as the main source of electrical energy. However, solar PV has its own weakness where efficiency will be reduced if there is a surplus of heat from solar energy, which will increase the temperature of solar PV. The purpose of this research is to improve the efficiency of solar PV system design with thermal solar PV. When solar PV is at a temperature that is optimal efficiency of solar PV converts thermal energy to electrical energy occurs consistently. The objectives of this report is to design a cooling thermal system for cooling and to study photovoltaic cooling system of solar photovoltaic. Steps must be taken to ensure the success of this study. Firstly, a study library so that useful information can be obtained. Then, the designs of thermal systems need to be generated. The design of the simulation process must be implemented to analyse whether the appropriate thermal system used nor not. From the simulation results, the fabrication process can be carried out to produce a prototype of a thermal system. Finally, collect the data to see the effectiveness of this system of thermal solar PV. From the results of data collection, prototype thermal system is not able to cool the solar PV to reach the optimum which is 33C as can see in figure 4.9. From the result, the recorded temperature can reach until 70C . However, some improvements are purposed at the end of this research report. It can be concluded that the efficiency of solar PV converts thermal energy into electrical energy is at a good level if solar PV have low temperatures and vice versa.
