Abstract

Recently, higher demand from the customers have bring benefit in term of profit to company. It is important for a company to predict the capability in order to achieve target or demand from customer. Therefore, capacity planning in manufacturing fields plays a significant role especially in production line. In this study, capacity will focus on the maximum amount of production process can produce. The study will focus in achieved actual output rate in machine utilization in order to predict future capacity for coming customers demand. In real situation, machine difficult to achieve 100% utilization although the machine design capacity set to 100%. This is because there is always randomness such as machine breakdown and rejection rate always occurs in production process. Thus, in this study, simulation will be carry out to predict the future capacity. This research aims to introduce simulation as new tools in order to predict future capacity. The simulation results are discussed in the study that is instantaneous utilisation and bottleneck in production process. Based on the results, it provided the better view for planner and it can be used for decision making for future capacity. The included of random event such as machine breakdown and rejection have influenced the actual production process. From the result, tempering and laminating process indicated as bottleneck in production system. As to conclude, this study has been done and the objective of this study have fulfilled where simulation method have been proved to provide better illustration through simulation of production system.
