Abstract

Emissions testing are designed to identify such vehicles in order to make necessary repairs to reduce emissions below the applicable standard pollution control. Besides that, purpose vehicle emission testing is to improve air quality that cars must meet certain standards for exhaust emissions before it can be approved for sale in the European Union. In this study is focused on the emission level when using different engine oil. As we know, the function of lubricant is to lubricate engine parts to reduce friction, so that it can move smoothly and protected against wear. Fully synthetic oil produced by a mixture of 4 main Ceflon chemicals, Teflon, Chlorine and Parafil. For semi synthetic oil is synthetic blend and mineral oils derived from petroleum crude oil, refined. Each type of engine oil, there is a distinct advantage. For synthetic oil, it has cleaning agents contain the existence of the dregs of the engine. And, because it is the lubricant will appear dark, but this did not prevent the oil from performing the usual functions that lubricate and protect metal surfaces in the engine. Based on objective of this project is to produce a guideline on which type of engine oil is suitable for engine and vehicle user to analyse the effect of different type of engine oil effect on vehicle emission engine. There are three types of engine oil to the test in this project, which is mineral oil, fully synthetic oil and semi synthetic oil. Every sample of engine oil has viscosity by selecting the appropriate grade for emission testing. In terms of the selection of the cars in this project, the model car that was selected for this project is toyota vios 1.5cc and equipment in use is the exhaust gas analyzer, oil filter and air gun. The method chooses for this project is engine oil should run the test with different rpm, which is at 1000rpm, 2000rpm and 3000rpm.
