Abstract

Innovation is mandatory for organizations to survive in the high technology atmosphere of the 21st century. However, most innovation activities contributed to the overwhelming impact of global warming, for instance chemical industry, which is one of the main emitters of greenhouse gases releasing through the combustion of fossil fuels to generate power. While most organization seeking to be the best innovator, the issue of eco-innovation remain silence. Therefore, this research aims to explore the adoption of eco-innovation in chemical industry. A quantitative approach through questionnaire was conducted with a sample of 234 respondents from chemical industry. The findings showed that there are positive impact between government, societal, and industry pressure. This research represents a rare opportunity for industry, academia, and policy makers to benefit from empirical analysis. Academicians have the opportunity to learn from relevant organization on how necessary steps to develop and improve the eco-innovation activities is taken. Industry have the opportunity to utilize and practice the adoption of eco-innovation to sustain their business. The results can be used by policy makers and ministries, to formulate policies on industrial sustain or gain better access to global markets, technology and finance as well as to improve their management capabilities.
