Abstract

“Assembly line re-layout based on modeling and simulation approach” is the title for this project, the manufacturing line form the factory will be analyze by using the ARENA software system and other alternative solution will be suggested in order to improve the performance of the manufacturing system. Scope of the this project is based on simulation and modeling of assembly line on the manufacturing factory. In order to carry out the project, some strategies are planned called methodology of the project due to attain the objectives. Based on the flow chart given, the very first step of planning the project is gathering all the data related to manufacturing line, it has been done during the industrial training in factory related. Examples of data collected are cycle time, number of work in progress (WIP), quantity of operator, etc. After that, the data gathered will be translated to the simulation software where the production behavior will be studied and analyze. Then, the verification and validation of the model will be evaluate by comparing the result from the previous data with the new result. The validation is use to compare the similarities of the simulation production line with the actual production line, from the similarities the countermeasure can be suggest and test on the simulation system. the final step will be proposing the alternatives solution to be used in production line and focus on enhancing the output of the line by concerning on reducing number of operator and reducing the length of the layout.
