Abstract

Material handling is the science and art both involving storing, packing and moving of substance in any form, that includes preparation, placing, and positioning the material to facilitate their movement or storage. As in the storage item, Part Supply System is the most significant thing to be considered in material handling. Part Supply is a system that concern about the movement of supply from the warehouse to the production line. Due to improper design of Part Supply System, workers mistakenly sent parts to the assembly line and this problem will be bring the downline station to the production line. The main objective of this project is to model a new part supply system and to analyze the performance of automated supply from warehouse to assembly line. A systematic plan has been created by starting with gathering the information in the literature review then start to plan by collecting the data in a warehouse and assembly line. Then, the combination of data from the warehouse to the assembly line will issue the new picking system. The performance of the new system is simulated by Arena Software. After completing this simulation, a new layout of the warehouse with the proper design according to the process is developed. The analysis performance on the new system of picking and the result are compared with the old system. The result of analysis shows that the new picking system is way better than the old system. A new system of part supply is chosen based on the listed criteria and an automated drive will bring the parts to the assembly line.
