Abstract
Location and positioning based services are among the most promising applications which have brought us with great convenience. With the arrival of WiMAX recently, the technology is able to fulfill the criteria of the next generation wireless systems. In wireless OFDM systems such as WiMAX (802.16e), preamble is first symbol of the downlink transmission. WiMAX is a wireless standard to enable mobile broadband services at a vehicular speed of up to 120 km/h. The purpose of the scheme is to enhance the accuracy of location estimation in WiMAX services. Preamble detection for 10MHz and 20MHz FFT bandwidth under ITU-R channel models (Vehicular (A) and Pedestrian (B)) will be evaluate and analyse. This study also will utilize the preamble signal; part of OFDM scheme used in WiMAX for wireless positioning. The basic WiMAX communication system also will develop and measures by using MATLAB and the MS position by the data obtained from the correlation of the preamble signal.
