Abstract
Composite has been a long time acquaintance for the automotive industry. They offer great deal of weight saving with respect to monolithic materials, but more importantly, if properly designed the represent the ideal engineering material for the wide variety of tasks they can be tailored to perform. For similar purposes, composite materials are used to develop a new body panels for Formula Student race car. In this research, the development of composite body panels covers multiple stages such as 3D body panel design, material selection, fabrication and assembly of the body panels onto the race car as well as test drive to determine its performance in actual condition. Final result shows that the body panels developed is able to perform successfully as expected and in the same time enhance the esthetical appearance of the race car.
