Abstract

A Smart Support Tool for PSM Title Similarity Check Using Information Visualization Technique (smartTIC) is used by student, supervisor and PSM committee members. This system is developed for student to do a checking of the previous PSM title that has been done by previous students. Students also can search and insert their proposed PSM title for committee approval. Besides that, this system will help students to reduce their time to do a checking at the library. This system also alerts student if the proposed title is similar with the existing title. The alert will be notified using color code. It is also help the PSM committee members to record all the information about student's PSM. All the title proposed are submitted and approve through this system. For title approval, student will be notified through SMS. The Prototyping methodology is used as a guide in completing this project because it suitable for system that has many requirement changes and for limited time to deliver or complete the development such as in PSM. The smartTIC applies the Information Visualization technique for data representation. The selected Information Visualization technique is the Hyperbolic Technique. The Information Visualization technique is applied for the data representation to make the information retrieval easier and the look of the system more interesting. The smartTIC is developed using Adobe Dreamweaver and MySQL database. The SMS notification are using OZEKI SMS server.
