Abstract

The Internet is becoming prevalent in our daily life. At the moment, 1Pv4 is a preferable protocol to be used in the Internet cloud. However, the emergence of new technologies such as wireless applications. cloud computing and Internet of things (!OT) are demanding a lot of Internet Protocol (IP) addressing. 1Pv4 addresses are facing depletion and a new protocol has been introduced namely, Internet Protocol version 6 (1Pv6). 1Pv6 was first drafted by IETF back in year 1998 in RFC 2460. The main driving force for the redesign of Internet Protocol was the foreseeable 1Pv4 address exhaustion. Nevertheless, the migration process from IPv4 to 1Pv6 is very slow because many users found that 1Pv6 services are not as good as in 1Pv4. Therefore, many researchers focus on 1Pv6 services enhancement but not in security issues. A study show malware from 1Pv4 can also infected 1Pv6 network but using different attack strategies. The malware attack in 1Pv6 may cost financial as well as security issues if the attacks are not handled swiftly. A study need to be conducted to close the gap. As a result, this study is focused on analyzing worm behavior in 1Pv6 network environment. A testbed which design to imitate 1Pv6 network environment is deployed and implemented to facilitate this study. A collected dataset from the testbed is used for further analysis. A prototype system is developed to help in order to analyze the dataset. The proposed system is very useful for lecturers and students from any faculties who are interested in analyzing computer worm' s behavior.
