Abstract

This research is about designing and testing circular automotive radiator that is different in design from existing commercial rectangular shaped radiator. Radiator is a heat exchanger system that functions to maintain the temperature of the engine to make sure that the vehicle can stay at the optimum performance on the road. However, conventional automotive radiator is not friendly in space and design construction. Design of the water to air radiator for automotive industry is same since 1901 because the developments focus on radiator material and production machine development to increase its cooling performance. Thus, this idea comes to build circular automotive radiator with expected improved heat transfer performance and space utilization. Some new radiator design was drawn and two best designs were selected before the fabrication begins. In addition, a rectangular radiator was built for experimental purposes. Both type of radiator will undergo testing in the process of heat transfer effectiveness. Performance of these two types of radiators will be compared.
