Abstract

Public transport is a major facility to mankind especially in urban area. One of the most important of public transport around the world is the bus. There are a variety range of age between children's to adults who prefer to take the bus to go to their workplaces, schools, travelling from one place to another. However, there are still unexpected accidents may happen upon the pedestrians behind or in front of a halt bus when they are crossing the road to go to school or to their workplace from behind or in front of a halt bus. Besides that, when there are pedestrian crossing the road during heavy traffic may also cause unexpected accidents to take place. This could some an unexpected vehicles which is travelled from opposite direction or lane of the halt bus or the vehicles which from behind the halt bus and intend to overtake it who is virtually facing blind-spot upon the pedestrians because they are hidden by the halt bus. To eliminate this scenario in the streets, the use of “Pedestrians Emerging And Safety Alert System in Public Buses for Road Users” is strongly proposed to be installed on top of all public busses as a warning aid for the other vehicles on the road. With the help of this system, other drivers should be aware of the pedestrian emerging behind or in front of a stopped bus. The driver has a sufficient period to slow down their vehicles when they are alerted with system due to the present of the pedestrians.
