Abstract

This project Routing System with Informative Display for Public (R-SID) is to design and develops as a traffic routing system. It is a system where public can choose the shortest time to reach their destination. The problem with the traffic condition now is congest situation. When it is in congest situation, the public will waste time, money for fuel, may cause accident and air pollution. The solution is RSID, it will display the shortest time to reach their destination via light emitting diode (LED) sign board which is located at the road side or at the traffic light junction. The objective of R-SID is to design and develop a real time monitoring system, where the public can choose the shortest path and time to reach their destination and the second objective is to develop a system for public to reach their destination by avoiding the traffic congestion. By gathered the informations on routing traffic light time, time of congestion, and also distance on a specified route all this info will be used for R-SID. By using electronic circuitry with PIC, it is use to control the R-SID. For the wireless communication, GSM (Global System for Mobile) was used for this type of communication and develop the software database with Virtual Basic (VB) as controller. Upon the completion of R-SID, it can show the shortest time from location like toll Ayer Kroh (source) until Bandar Hilir (destination) in the shortest time based on real time changes. It could be use on the sign board at road side or the traffic light junction. Conclusions, R-SID are useful especially for tourist attraction or urban city such as Malacca to let the public or tourist to reach the town in the shortest time and save their travelling time.
