Abstract
Most of electronics and electric appliances such as TV, CRT, Video, domestic lighting are flickering. Human vision sensitivity in this study refers to Critical Flicker-Fusion (CFF) threshold and Fusion-Flicker threshold for limited Malaysian population. In addition to that, the study also investigates variability of race, gender and age to CFF threshold. To conduct the study, 233 respondents female and male, young and adult are participated ranging from age 8 to 60+ years. The study found out that the CFF for limited Malaysian population is 36.01 Hertz. For Age variability: Young and Adult have significantly different frequency threshold. Young has mean CFF 32.3 and Adult: 37.6 Hertz. Statistically it proves there is a significant different between young people and adult. The study found for Adult normal, the mean CFF is 37.57 Hertz with range 36.4 to 38.6 Hertz. There is not any evidence the CFF is significantly different between adult female and male. No significant differences in CFF with regards to races. The result of this research extends the knowledge of human CFF particularly for Malaysian.Furthermore, this result may also be applied for better design of man machine interface which involve human vision.
