Abstract

During this modem and sophisticated era, the use of software to control, study and monitor system seems to get more attention. This technology consists of computer software and is affiliated with sophisticated and efficient circuit. This research presents the simulation package of three phase AC motor for education purpose which the characteristics of the motor can be studied in real time. The system is designed by using Visual Basic 6.0 for graphical user interface (GUI) development and data acquisition (DAQ) card to interface between hardware and computer. The DAQ card samples three signals of the AC motor which are voltage, current and speed and then the GUI displays the signals in real time. Based on the signals, the parameters of the motor such as RMS voltage, current, speed, input power, output power, power efficiency and torque are analyzed and calculated. In addition, the software is also developed to calculate resistance, reactance, magnetizing inductance and power of the motor automatically while. performing no load and blocked rotor test to the motor. Thus, users have new approach to understand the concepts of the AC motor by visualizing its parameters and characteristics in real time.
