Abstract

Ad hoc wireless networks are defined as a class of wireless networks that exploits multi-hop radio relaying and able to operate without the support of any fixed infrastructure. In these networks, the routing and resource management are being done in a distributed manner where all nodes coordinate to enable communication among themselves. Ad hoc wireless networks can be applied in a collaborative computing in which the requirements of a temporary communication infrastructure for quick communication with minimal configuration between a group of people in a conference or gathering. The main purpose of this research is to develop a middleware that allows mobile nodes in a collaborative environment to share information while enhancing data availability. In a wired infrastructure, middleware can be defined as a software layer between client and server processes that hides the underlying networked environment's complexity. For this project, the middleware will be implemented on nodes in an ad hoc wireless network that have a strong incentive to collaborate and share resources. Shared information in this study focuses on file as a resource to be shared.
