Abstract

Malaysia is progressively moving towards becoming a developed nation by 2020 and among the goals is to boost the female workforce participation. Inevitably, this has called for higher-quality child care centers as it would be a necessity for most of working mothers. The crucial part in child nursery is monitoring the children during dynamic situation such as play time and dining hour. It is of the essence to locate each of the children in real-time to make sure all of the children are in safe condition and not missing. Therefore, this project proposes a monitoring system based on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Technology to track and monitor each of the children in real-time. This project consist of four main parts, which are the tag, tag reader, system development and networking system. The children will wear the RFID wristband (i.e. tag) and will interact with RFID reader placed at specific location within the nursery. The system is developed using Visual Basic.Net and Microsoft SQL Server for secure records management. This system provides a convenient, effective and systematic solution for the employees to monitor the children in the nursery.
