Abstract

The advantages of wireless network become popular everywhere is due to several advantages such as no cabling is required, simple installation and the ability of the signal to be transmitted through doors and walls. Unfortunately, the deployment process and performance study of wireless network still remain a big challenge. As the number of users has increased in the wireless network, so the performance of network coverage has become poorer in term of receiving signal strength and throughput. To address this problem, the design of the network (i.e. site survey, frequency assignment and etc) must be well planned before the network is deployed. The purpose of this project is to deploy and perform analysis of Wireless Multi hop Network (MWN). Based on 802.11 standard, the WMN consist of several access points that acts a node and link to each other and make a complete wireless local area network (WLAN). The wireless technology offer more advantages over LAN, however the degradation of network performance arise within the network because of channel interference with other available access points. By testing with different frequencies for each of the access points before conducting any deployment activities in an area, the channel interference can be avoided and make a better performance of wireless networking. A test bed is developed to evaluate the performance of WMN in real environment. Analysis in term of latency and throughput of the network are done and also performance of the network with different frequencies is also considered in order to confirm the functionality of the WMN.
