Abstract

This project presents a research on the fabricating of plastic injection mould base using acrylic material. The mould base was fabricated from raw material plates using various types of machines until plates were assembled. The objective of this project is to produce a precision acrylic mould base. Beside that, it also to ensure easier process of assembly between standard part of mould components and mould plates. This research started by designing the mould assembly drawing and components of mould which consist of core plate, cavity plate, ejector plate, spacer block, top and bottom clamping plate and finally electrode drawing. This research used AutoCAD software as Computer Aided Design (CAD) in designing plastic injection mould using Two Dimensional Engineering Design (2DED) concept. All views such as top, side, bottom, section and detail were shown in this designing process. ln machining process there were used conventional machine and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine. Finally, all mould plates were assembled with mould components, auxiliary components until forming one set of mould base. This, the 2DED was one of the successfully method in designing plastic injection mould. Furthermore, various plates have been machined using various machines that available at laboratory of Faculty of Manufacturing Engineering with highly precision, and in consequently easier on assembly process between mould plates and mould components
