Abstract

SMS APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT IN A VISION SYSTEM AND STATISTICAL APPLICATIONS IN VISION-BASED QUALITY CONTROL SYSTEMS This innovation presents the idea of machine vision m a simplified manner. Fully Automatic Sorting Machine Using USB Camera consists of a PC-based controller with parallel port and a USB camera. It inspects and sorts objects based on pattern, colour and size. This machine comes with special features such as touch screen, GUI, HMI, voice feature and tower li ght. These features are great for novice users and operators who multitask. Data are collected and displayed on-screen concurrently with the sorting process. Users can view the statistics (current number of objects, percentage and pie chart) according to specified category. This product comes with an SMS alert system. Operators handling this machine can easily alert supervisors in case of machine problems or other emergencies using the SMS text alert system. This SMS alert system can also be set to inform supervisors on the completion of the sorting process for each lot, complete with the statistical information. Once objects are loaded into this machine, the optical sensor would signal the actuator to unload an object. The USB camera would then capture the image of the particular object and send it to the computer via the USB cable. LabVIEW would then analyze the image and perform the sorting operation. A cycle is completed once the index plate collects the object delivered by the loader.
