Abstract

Malacca is one of the historical cities in the world. This has become the tourist attraction to the city which contributes to the main income to the state. To increase tourist attraction, the state government has taken initiative to decorate the buildings near the historical location with decorative lightings to enhance the beauty of the location especially during the night. The project 's intention is to further enhance such situation by controlling the lighting to move in a pattern according to the music being played. The project's objective is to develop a prototype of a music synchronized lighting system to be used at the buildings in Malacca. When music is played, the lighting pattern will change accordingly with the sound of music. The project will use analog amplifiers and filters to distinguish the sound of different frequencies. Once the sound has been filtered, then it will be fed into the microcontroller to process the signal. The microcontroller will decide to whether or not to change the pattern as programmed. This report will explain the result of filtering and how the implementation of such system in a prototype is being carried out.
