Abstract

This project designed a system in which its can recognize a human voice command and then activate the electrical appliances at home through the wireless network between a client computer and a server in a real time operation. Mostly all systems today have been using the remote control system to activate certain home electrical appliances. However, this method is difficult for a person who can't even move or paralyzed. So, this project is develop to help people with disabilities to do their house chores. The software part of this system consists of three main parts; the server computer, the client computer and the wireless network interfacing. By using the wireless communication system, its will utilizes the remote voice recognition system server to translate the voice input received from a serviced client computer into a symbolic data file (e.g. alpha-numeric or control characters) in which to be processed by the clients computer. Then, the systems send the data to the hardware in which has been connected to the electrical appliances through the parallel connector. The wireless technology implemented in this project is the Wi-Fi network and the computer server will be using the GUI manager for implementing the speech recognition system. The GUI system is developed by using the Microsoft Visual Basic.net software and the speech recognition software used is the Microsoft Speech (SAPI). In conclusion, from the result analyses, the performance of the system will depends on the wireless coverage and distance, voice input type and the environment condition.
