Abstract

Power over Ethernet (PoE) hopes to supplant traditional power supplies for computing worldwide. Plug and sockets vary by country, but Ethernet technology and cord are universal. For this reason, it needs to be design and develop for general applications such as consumer and industrial products, and to operate in different countries. Once end devices, such as a network camera or an access control terminal are up and connected to the LAN, they still require power to run. Power over LAN technology enable LAN devices to be powered over the network-cabling infrastructure, thus avoiding the need for separate power and data cable infrastructure and costly AC outlets near cameras. The purpose of this project is to design a compact, portable, low cost and reliable power over Ethernet (PoE) DC adapter that capable producing stable DC source from +5 VDC to + 12 VCD to any electrical devices that required DC supply. The devices can be classified into two categories, PoE device and non PoE device. The designed PoE should be able to supply for both type of devices. This report represents about the simulation and hardware development for PoE adapter using three circuits design which are circuit using LM 5070, circuit using voltage regulator and circuit using injector 48. This report will also explain about the RJ-45 cable testing and attachment with plug and Jack Modular for network cable setup. The data analyses for each design are also discussed.
