Abstract

The development of a fully automated synchronization system is one of break through to ease and secure of synchroni zation process. In this research, prototyping of simple and easy to develop a fully automatic synchronization system for distributed generator is successfully carried out. The system uses DC motor as prime mover and coupled with three-phase synchronous generator. The generated output voltage is to be connected to the TNB-line automatically with pre-consideration of synchronous criteria. A Personal Computer with installed Data Acquisition Board (DAQ) is used as controller hardware, while LABVIEW is implemented as controller software. The real-time signals from both generator and TNB-line are to be analyzed and checked according to synchronous criteria. ln case of all the criteria are fulfilled, but phase sequence of generator is not in the same direction with main system, then interchange two phase lines of generator is performed automatically in order to make an equal sequence. Should all synchronous criteria are completely fulfilled, then system automatically and promptly trigger relay to connect the generator with the TNB-line. Furthermore, LABVIEW software can be used to display all the important parameters on screen of the computer. The developed prototyping of synchronization system works well. Furthermore, it is discovered that the system can be implemented for both industrial and educational purpose.
