Abstract

Malaysia experienced equatorial climate which helps its people to utilise energy efficiency. With 12 hours for each part of the day, Malaysians can utilise energy efficiently. This shows the utilisation oflighting in each household. In the late 90' s, more terrace houses were built thus encouraging the use of energy. At the same time, the used of power increases and it can be seen that energy are being waste normally for the lighting as the lights fixed at each home is impropriate as it does not saves the energy. In this study, a research will be made at the current time concerning the use of lights at each house and its effects on the use of energy and human. Comprehensive study will be made on the efficiency of energy and the use of light. Besides that, the type of lighting used at each house will be discussed and how the lighting used not efficient. This study will concentrate on double storey terrace houses in Malaysia. Focus will be given to this type of house because this house common in Malaysia especially in the city centre. Controlling_the light will also be study thoroughly because it is the best way to control the lighting. Therefore, correct measures will be taken and applied in this study. A standard will be used in order to reduce the amount of energy used. With the used of efficient energy, it will save the amount of energy used not only at home but for the country. The type of lighting used and its practical design will be compared to get the best result for the houses in Malaysia. Software called Home Design Quick and Easy will be used to help visualised the house through 3-D. Visual Basic will be used to get the calculation on the amount of energy used and its bill. This study will enable each house to enjoy the comfort of living and the long time saving in terms of lighting.
