Abstract

In recent years, technological advancements have significantly influenced various sectors, including education. The metaverse, a virtual reality-driven immersive environment, has emerged as a potential tool to revolutionize traditional teaching and learning methods. This research explores the factors that influence the acceptance of the metaverse in the Malaysian education system. The study aims to identify the key determinants that encourage or hinder its adoption among students and educators.Primary data were collected through an online survey using a self-administered questionnaire, targeting participants within Malaysia's educational institutions. This research leverages the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) framework to examine behavioral intentions and attitudes toward the metaverse. A quantitative analysis method was employed, and the data were analyzed using statistical tools, including SPSS.The findings indicate that perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, social influence, and facilitating conditions significantly impact the acceptance of the metaverse in education. These insights highlight the importance of addressing technological barriers and fostering awareness to enhance its integration into learning environments.
