Abstract
The Smart Blind Stick project addresses the mobility challenges faced by visually impaired individuals by providing a technologically advanced solution to enhance their navigation and safety. Traditional mobility aids, such as white canes, lack the capability for real-time obstacle detection, immediate alerts, and effective guardian monitoring. This project aims to solve these issues by developing a smart blind stick coupled with a mobile application. The solution integrates ultrasonic sensors for obstacle detection, a GPS module for real-time location tracking, and a GSM module for emergency alerts. The mobile application, developed using Android Studio and Firebase, provides real-time updates and alerts to both users and their guardians. The system was tested using dynamic and user acceptance testing, confirming its reliability and user-friendliness. The Smart Blind Stick offers visually impaired individuals increased independence, confidence, and safety, representing a significant advancement in assistive technology.
