Abstract
Phishing attacks continue to threaten internet security, often leading to significant financial losses and data breaches. Traditional phishing protection techniques, such as blacklisting, have proven effective but are increasingly inadequate against sophisticated attacks, especially as web browsers become central to users' online activities. This project aimed to address these challenges by developing a Google Chrome extension supported by server-side processing for enhanced detection and prevention of phishing attempts. The extension successfully provided real-time identification of phishing websites, significantly improving detection accuracy. Additionally, the extension was designed with a user-friendly interface, offering instant alerts to warn users of potentially unsafe websites, thereby reducing the risk of phishing attacks. The prototype was tested to assess its effectiveness, demonstrating its potential as a practical tool for bolstering online security.
