Abstract
The significant safety hazards potholes present on roads, contributing to accidents and traffic congestion, especially in developing nations. The research focuses on developing a system capable of detecting potholes in real-time by utilizing GPS, Ultrasonic Sensors, Arduino Uno, and Raspberry Pi. It combines sensor-based and machine learning methodologies, using Python and the YOLOv5 object detection model, to accurately detect pothole depths across various road conditions. The system demonstrated high accuracy in detection through the training and testing of 2146 images.
