Abstract

Coronavirus disease 2019, henceforth abbreviated as COVID-19, was declared as a global pandemic by the World Health Organisation (WHO). Countries around the world are mostly affected and taking drastic steps to curb the spreading of virus by implementing Movement Control Order (MCO) and lockdowns. This including Malaysia who had the first case of Covid-19 that was detected on 25th January 2020 which the virus been carried by three Chinese nationals who previously went to Singapore. From this first case occur, Minister Of Health (MOH) Malaysia setup devised standard guidelines to manage further cases and Standard Of Operation (SOP) to be followed by all citizens in Malaysia which leading to the emergence of a 'new normal' life throughout the society and business practices alike. However, a full understanding on impact of this study aimed to evaluate consumer purchasing behavior during MCO, economy view during MCO and technology enhancement that happen during MCO due to COVID-19. A total of 384 valid surveys were distribute for further analysis. It was conducted in Malaysia using an online questionnaire approach due to the time constraint. The data was analyzed and interpreted using the statistical package science social (SPSS) version 20. Outcomes of this research could provide meaningful information regarding factors influential the severity of the crisis, and thereby impacting the food supply chain. The Movement Control Order (MCO) should set out as a hard lesson to all parties especially Malaysian to move towards creating their own food production.
