Abstract

The main function of vehicles suspension system is to separate the vehicle body and passengers from the oscillation created by the irregularities and to provide continuous contact of vehicle’s wheel from the road surface as a specific description is shock absorber. The test rig to check the Shock absorber were quite expensive on the market nowdays .In this study focussing on design developing low cost shock dyno test rig to measure the shock absorber data for motorcycle using linear motion and compare with factory data. This research consist of introduction of the shock absorbers type. The design was designed by using Catia V521 software and analyse using von misses stress to define the critical point shear stress that occur on the test rig. The design are using piston and crankshaft design and other part component mechanism are designed based on the various mechanical mechanism that already in industry. Based on the result of the von misses show that the material used on the middle plate mounting are not to suitable with applied force 1050 N that applied and need to take consideration about the relation of forces and material properties because there several point on the middle plate are on maximum stress. This problem can cost the test rig to ruptures and break apart and need to take modification on certain part of the design.
