Abstract
This study reflects on analyse to develop of airflow sensor system towards air intake system in 1000cc car engine to perform a predictive maintenance on the intake air filter. The dirty air filter lead to MAF sensor problem which is incorrect measurement value of airflow rate. Hence, the clean intake air filter a used to make sure the air is clean. The problem is to determine the condition of air filter. Usually maintenance personnel following the manufacturer manual to change the air filter without considering the condition of the air filter. The internal part of the engine can be harmed if the air filters too dirty. Besides that, an early changing of air filter lead to prematurely changed, hence, the air filter was not fully used. Therefore, this study was conducted to develop airflow sensor system to the 1000 litre engine car for reading of the intake airflow velocity after the air filter position. Besides that, this study was carried out to compare airflow velocity between three different conditions of OEM air filter using airflow sensor system. The microcontroller, Arduino, LCD panel and LED was installed in car dashboard. Meanwhile, a wire that connected from Arduino connecting to a hot wire sensor. The sensor was attached between air cleaner chamber and air duct to indicate the level of air filter condition and measure the velocity of airflow after the air filter position. Three difference condition of air filter were used. An air filer A is new air filter, meanwhile, air filter B and C were used air filter. Based on collected data from this study, it illustrates the difference value of airflow velocity between clean air filter and used air filter which is air filter A had higher airflow than air filter B and C. Besides that, the difference value of airflow velocity between used air filter B and C was suggested due to the several factor. Therefore, the airflow sensor system was developed for monitor, measure and compared the three difference air filter condition of OEM air filter.
