Abstract

With the various types of Malaysia Army vehicle’s, it’s very important to know the characteristics of each vehicle suspension system itself. The army vehicle’s are commonly used in off-road track which is expose to the unbalance and unstable condition during ride and handling the vehicles. This project describe the longitudinal direction of army vehicle model development in order to study the behavior of passive suspension system. The derivation of a 14-DOF which is consist of 7-DOF at ride and 7-DOF at handling are studied. In order to know better in between road surface and vehicle tires, tire model also was studied. Calspan tire model are used in this project to developed the 7-DOF handling model. Generally, 14-DOF model was developed by using Matlab Simulink application while to verified that 14-DOF model the CarSimEd application used. This software will verified and make the comparisson with the Matlab Simulink results. Two test was set up in CarSimEd software which is sudden accelerate and sudden braking test. The verification of 14 DOF model then will be verified by using the CarSimEd software in order to produces results.
