Abstract

This study was conducted in 2007-2008 and to find out the perception of the international engineering graduate students towards the graduate education offered at the public institutions of higher learning in Malaysia. The objectives of this study are to determine the factors that influence the choice of institution, the problems encountered and also to create a profile of these international graduate students studying in Malaysia. It also seeks to determine if there is a correlation between the academic qualities with the environment qualities in Malaysian institutions of higher learning. The 344 respondents participating in this study are drawn from 6 public institutions of higher learning in Malaysia, namely,Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, International Islamic University, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Utara Malaysia and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. Then, the study reduced to the perception of engineering graduate students where there are 55 engineering post-graduate students become our respondents, to find out the perception of international engineering graduate students on Malaysian graduate education which is the reason of this study. Data is collected with the help from the Graduate Schools of the respective universities and analyzed using descriptive statistics and correlation method.
