Abstract
This study investigates the level of critical thinking skills among the final year undergraduates of Malaysian Technical Universities and compares the level to the standard global benchmarking. Then suggestions to improve the critical thinking skills among students in institutes of higher learning are discussed as well. The findings reveal that the undergraduates have certain level of critical thinking, which is indicative that some proficiency in these skills is indeed present, however when compared to the global standard, the Malaysian students are way behind in terms of their level of critical thinking skills. The study, has certain implications for technical education in Malaysia and other similar contexts. The findings of this research points to the need to inform educators about the importance of developing their students' critical thinking skills and improvement to the current technical universities curriculum need to be done in order to upgrade the level of critical thinking skills among Malaysian technical universities students.
