Abstract

Kolej Universiti Teknikal Kebangsaan Malaysia (KUTKM) undergoes a continuous wave of change towards success and almost always, staff commitment is highlighted as a vital ingredient for the success of the institution. From the literatures reviewed, the communication climate and organizational climate are predictors of staff commitment; therefore, this study aims to determine the relationships between the communication climate and organizational climate in relation to staff commitment at KUTKM. For that purpose, 181 lecturers were involved as respondents for this study.The findings revealed that the communication climate and organizational climate correlated positively with organizational commitment. The level of organizational commitment and the level of organizational climate in KUTKM indicated positive at moderate level, whereas the level of communication climate were noted comfortable at high level by the majority of the staff. The result indicated that the more favorable the perceived communication climate and organizational climate, are the higher the level of organizational commitment of the lecturers to KUTKM. Results did not indicate that the tenure has significant effect on staff commitment to the organization in KUTKM.
