Abstract

This study present statistical analysis of load profiling data in the utility of Malaysia for a period of 8 weeks, with the reading recorded every half an hour. The load profiling occurs during the transmitting electrical load to consumer. For consumer that have no time-elapse metre, the load being computed for every period of customer usage. This project shows the comparison of three statistical distributions that fit into the daily load profiling data. Descriptive statistics, the trend and pattern for each day of the load profiling was done in order to find the suitable distribution to model the data. Based on the result, statistical distributions, namely normal distribution, lognormal distribution and Weibull distribution was fit to the data. Maximum likelihood method was used for the estimation of the parameters and the selection of the best distributions is by using the goodness of fit test. Result from this study shows that the daily load profiling data in the utility of Malaysia can be modelled using different statistical distribution. The log-normal distribution emerged as the best distribution for Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. While the normal distribution serves as the best distribution for Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. The estimation from the chosen statistical distribution gives confidence interval of customer load consumption for each day.
