Abstract

This study conducted for the purpose to view the orientation feature requirements and performance characteristics of entrepreneurs locus of control. The sample survey using random sampling method, and structured questionnaire consisting of two sections: Section first see the profile of demographic and socio-economic development while the second half of the respondents view the need of achievement is measured using four different dimensions (the work ethic; pursuit of excellence: skills; effect) that mengandungi16 item. While the features of the locus of control was measured using three different dimensions (the nature of the internal natural opportunities; to dominate others), which contains 12 items. These items were adapted from similar studies by Littunen (2000). 5 point Likert scale is used to examine the respondents agreed that 28 items from 1 as strongly disagree to 5 as strongly agree. A total of 70 respondents from 41 men and 29 women participated in this study. The results showed that the respondents have characteristics of high performance requirements (score of more than 3) with dimensions of pursuing excellence with the highest mean (4.15) followed by work ethic (4 .07), influential (3.50) and the dimensions of the lowest skill (3.24). They also feature a high internal locus of control. The study also found that the mean average for male entrepreneurs is higher than women in both features being studied. However, test showed no significant difference exists. Similarly, t-test conducted on each dimension of feature performance requirements are not significant differences for all dimensions except the dimension that involved showing the effect of p = 0.025. This can be explained in terms of religion and culture that has existed since long before the look was more influential men, dominated the situation and wants to be the head, especially in the Malay community. Similar results were also obtained for the t-test on the three dimensions of locus of control features that do not show any significant difference. The results also showed no significant difference in characteristics and performance requirements of the locus of control based on age, educational level and duration of a business.
